In most cases, a garden room, often considered an outbuilding under class E, does not require planning permission as it falls under permitted development rights. 

However, there are conditions and limitations to this, such as size, height, and proximity to boundaries, which must be adhered to for it to be considered permitted development. If these conditions are not met, or if the property is in a designated area or listed building, then planning permission may be needed.

The cost of a Garden Room will vary depending upon the size and features contained within. A small 3m x 3m home office with a single set of French doors will be significantly less than a large 8m x 6m games room complete with shower room and WC. For most Garden Rooms, the project will not require building regulation notification to the local authority. This is subject to certain conditions such as maximum size and proximity to the boundary of your property. However we would always work to the regulations as a matter of standard practice.
